Team Endurance Race Events with Outpace Coaching

Bob R.

I started doing olympic distance triathlon on my own in 1994. In 2017 I had my first podium finish at the Life Time Aquatennial race in Minneapolis. I started wondering what I could do if I had a coach. My nephew was working with Outpace and ended up qualifying for tha Kona Ironman world championship. Working with Outpace, I started winning my age group in several races, and in 2023 I qualified for worlds in the olympic distance. Anthony challenged me to try the 70.3 half iron man, and I did my first one that year, finishing just one minute short of the podium. In 2024, At my second half iron man, I won my age group and qualified for worlds in New Zealand. As I prepare for two world championships this year, I never dreamed I would be in this position. Outpace has made this possible and shown me that even at age sixty five, there are no limits!

Coach Anthony was not only an amazing coach, but a genuinely great human being. Working with him was smooth like butter, he helped guide me through the lows and did his magic to take me up to the highs. I wouldn’t recommend anyone other than him to help you out in your endurance journey!

Hiring a coach can be an overwhelming task especially if you are new to a sport like I was. Anthony has way exceeded my expectations. Not only is the actual coaching top notch but he is surrounded by high quality individuals. By hiring outpace coaching you are setting yourself up with a network of people to get you from start to finish. I can't recommend him more highly.

I wanted to reach out to say how awesome my experience has been with OutPace the past ~2 months.  The responsiveness, enthusiasm and attitude that I get from Coach Peter has been second to none.  Being a sales engineer myself, I've always been told to be super responsive to customers.  Being on the customer side of this I have now realized how nice it is to have an uber-responsive and engaged coach - so thank you Peter for this.

Both Peter and yourself are extremely passionate about what you do, and I firmly believe that is the foundation of success.  The results I have seen in my own athletic progress are amazing.  I've always been an endurance athlete, but actually applying the proper science (and understanding it - thanks again Peter for dealing with my constant questioning) like you both do is the key.  You have to respect the process and trust it!  I'm so happy to see my numbers continuing to improve!

Anyways, thanks for giving me such a positive experience so far guys.  I'm a very happy customer.

I recommend Team Outpace to any triathlete in Minnesota. There’s no other group around that has a better team aspect. The group is welcoming to every kind of endurance athlete and all performance levels. I especially appreciate how my workout plans are extremely well-thought out and tailored to meet my specific goals. In the past, I have always been a solo-workout type of person and preferred doing things on my own. But after joining outpace, I feel like my performance has totally gone to the next level. And better yet- i have never had so much FUN! Thank you Outpace!

Nick

Being coached by Peter and being a part of Team Outpace has really pushed me and allowed me to become a better athlete in all ways. Getting to join a community of athletes that are way better than me and having a coach that both inspires/pushes me has helped round myself out and give me a platform to reach for the high performance goals I set for myself. They helped check a lot of the boxes that were missing from being self-coached and allowed me to pick things up that I would never have learned trying to navigate a new sport by myself.

Where do I start? Last year I was 20 pounds heavier, with a lot of health issues. At a young age, I was already taking a prescription for high blood pressure, cholesterol, my asthma was not under control, lack of energy and very low self-esteem. Coach Anthony showed me that I'm stronger than I thought. I used to be an elite swimmer many years ago but ended up hating the sport because I did not enjoy the training load. Coach Anthony made me love the sport again; he helped me get physically conditioned to be able to swim race again. During my year of training with Anthony, not only I lost weight but also lost the low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and I got my health back, as all my blood work came back to normal, no more BP meds, and no more hospitalizations related to my respiratory airways.
On top of that, I qualified for national and international events as I've been getting faster and faster. I love training with coach Anthony because he tailors the training on an individual basis, based on your goals. He is very responsive when one has any questions or concerns. He got your back!. No matter what your goals are, Anthony can help you get there. You have to be ready to work because he'll make you work hard for your goals, but it's worth it and rewarding. Thanks, coach Anthony!

My wife and I met Anthony approximately five years ago. At that time I had completed a couple sprint triathlons and, having been primarily a runner most of my life, I wasn’t sure how much energy I wanted to put into training for triathlons. However, I immediately liked Anthony and knew that if I decided to become more serious about triathlons I would ask him to be my coach. He planted the seed of me working with him to improve my general conditioning and have more fun with triathlons and about two years later (three years ago) we started working together and I’ve been trained by Anthony ever since !

I’ve trained with Anthony for the past three years. When I follow his plan and guidance, and work to the level of intensity that Anthony brings to the process, my performance in triathlons and duathlons have steadily improved (and, at 57 years old, I’m probably one of Anthony’s older athletes/trainees!).

Anthony is a gifted athlete himself and a very talented coach/trainer whose passion for helping his athletes/trainees achieve success is obvious and contagious. And, because he has been and continues to be a highly competitive athlete himself, he understands exactly what it takes to achieve one’s goals from a holistic perspective that includes training, nutrition, rest, injury prevention, and sensible workout routines and plans.

Anthony does a thorough assessment of every athlete to understand their strengths, areas for development, and their personal goals. He commits himself fully to each and every athlete and provides workouts that have tremendous variety and are relevant to all aspects of physical health and development as well as performance enhancement for those who are engaging in any type of competitive activities. Anthony is patient, positive and encouraging, and enthusiastic about every athlete/trainee. He strikes a unique balance between being supportive and very challenging. Trust me, he will push you beyond what you believe you are capable of and that’s exactly what results in you reaching your goals, whether they be enhanced athletic performances or the physical transformations and simple improvements in general health and conditioning you are seeking !

Anthony is just a great guy who is fun to work with and, most importantly, he genuinely cares about you and your success in reaching your goals and he will do everything he can to see that you succeed and have fun. Thank you Anthony for all the time you've spent with me over the last three years helping me reach my goals and be healthy. It's been my pleasure.

Ironman athletes are crazy and I am proud to say I am now among them. Anthony coached my husband and I to complete an Ironman this past year. At first, it seemed crazy that we would be able to complete a full Ironman with less than a year of training and having only competed in a sprint Tri prior, however with Anthony's training plan, support and guidance- it became a reality. We worked with Anthony for about 10 months and it was hard. The training became a life adjustment but if you talk to anyone that has ever done a full Ironman they will tell you the same thing. Anthony provided all of the training workouts, answered all of our questions related to workouts, gear, race day logistics, mental preparedness and more. He gave me the confidence and knowledge to get to the starting line. The day before the big race, I was having major doubts and anxiety and I was a nervous wreck- but Anthony reminded me that I had done the work, that I was ready and helped instill the confidence I needed to get to the starting line. I am so glad he did because I became an Ironman that next day and I would not be able to say that without his coaching and support. The whole experience was amazing and I am so grateful for the opportunity! If you are a novice or an experienced athlete looking to improve your times (or just get in better shape) Anthony is your guy! I highly recommend him.

"I would never have seriously considering attempting a triathlon. I am not a runner and don't consider myself to be athletic. It was only because of Anthony’s encouragement and guidance that I have now completed not only a sprint but also an olympic distance and I'm now training for a 70.3. He is always positive, inspiring and finds an ability in me I never thought I was capable of. I highly recommend him for any physical goals you may be considering, no matter how lofty. Don't be surprised if you achieve more than you thought possible."

2.5 years ago, I started training with Anthony will small goals in mind. I wanted to lose some lbs, get in shape, and know how to use the weights at the gym. Not only did he help me succeed in these goals in record time, he patiently explained all the exercises, the importance in having the correct form, and adjusted workouts to prevent injury. After a couple months, I was in better shape than ever and I understood what was giving me the results thanks to Anthony’s education. One of the great things about Anthony is that he knows what you are capable of and knows how to hold you accountable and push you. As we progressed in weight and intensity, Anthony would maintain a confidence that this is something I can do. And he was always right…even if I hesitated. After 6 months, we continued to incorporate more dynamic workouts that involved different lifts, sprints, circuits, and body weight movements. All designed to get me more results. These workouts were both challenging and fun. Sometimes utilizing gym equipment outside to take advantage of nice weather or creating unique routines indoors. The ultimate success in my training journey with Anthony happened at the 1-year mark. As I mentioned, Anthony knows what you are capable of and truly believes in you. I had spectated an Ironman race that Anthony was competing in right around the 1-year mark in training with him. A couple days after he got back from competing, he asked me nonchalantly when I would be signing up. I always thought the race was crazy and never thought about doing it, but I asked him if he thought I could do it and he said without hesitation “yes”. I laughed at first, but 4 hours later when I got home, I found myself on the Ironman website signing up for the race. 1 year after signing up for Ironman, I crossed the finish line in the same place where I stood spectating it the year before. Anthony helped me achieve my initial goals and continued to push me and believe in me such that 2 years after working with him, I was able to finish an Ironman. Something I never dreamed of doing. I don’t think you can ask for more in a trainer. If your goals are small or large, Anthony is the right person to get you there.

I have been a runner for most of my life, when on a whim I decided to do a super-sprint triathlon. I dog-paddled dead last through the swim and rode a borrowed bike, but I loved it nonetheless and wanted to go further. However I had no idea where to begin to cultivate the skills needed for this multi-sport endeavor. This is where Anthony came in. He planned judiciously balanced workouts tailored for my needs (and joints… I am 53 years old ;) He gave tips on getting through transitions quickly. Each day had a specific intention, each week had a purpose, each period had an end goal. Do no less (but no more – rest is a key element!) and you will receive the greatest gift on race day when it all comes together almost effortlessly. Anthony has a unique combination of compassion and competitiveness. While he is kind and understanding, he is also inspiring and encouraging. When I did my first Half Ironman, I had a panic attack in the open water. I didn’t think I could do the 1.2 mile swim. But I thought of Anthony, and how I would never be able to look him in the eye if I failed, and that drove me onward. Since then, I have completed two full IRONMAN races, earning All World Athlete status. My dream is to qualify for Kona, the ultimate pinnacle of triathlon. And Anthony will be there to guide me every stroke, pedal and step of the way. (update - Diane DID qualify for Kona!)

The first month I really thought Anthony was literally killing me, and I recall worrying if the Ironman trainer was right for me. Anthony was very knowledge in all areas of fitness, but I struggled with the workouts. As my body adjusted to the workouts, I realized the truth is that Anthony is saving my life. In three months I lost five percent of body fat, increased lean muscle and my glucose levels dropped significantly. Anthony is always there for me to answers questions, and truly cares about my health goals. His passion for fitness is contagious and I have found the experience life changing. I recommended my wife to start working out with Anthony. Her goals were much different from mine, and Anthony developed a program to specifically help her. We are both big fans of Anthony.

I was referred to Anthony's Power Plus class from someone who had completed the same race I am training for (The Leadville 100mtb). The class is both challenging and rewarding at the same time. The harder you work the better the results and Anthony does a great job of motivating you to keep pushing yourself. I had no intension of getting involved in the Triathlon sports but with Anthony's encouragement I was signed up for my first 70.3 as a way to cross train. I completed two of them that year and I'm now signed up for my third. Anthony has helped with everything from nutrition to training plans and has added a lot to the experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to accomplish more in whatever sports endeavor you decide to pursue. At the end of the first years class he sent me a card with some encouraging words and he addressed to "Leadville Finisher". I still have that card and plan on making that come true this August 2017. Thanks for everything.
