Training (and racing?) During COVID-19

Race season is quickly approaching and everyone is faced with some uncertainty when it comes to which month we will be back out racing. This can come with a challenge of maintaining motivation and what to focus on for fitness development. Knowing that this scenario poses different challenges for each of you, communication is key to let your coach know where you are at physically but also just as important, mentally. As always, we welcome questions and concerns as it relates to anything training and racing related and how we can best structure your plan to fit your needs and motivation level. At this point there are some races still scheduled in June, so our approach to training is we will continue with a normal build unless the season continues to get pushed back, at which point we will decide what approach makes sense for each of you.  Your opinion and feedback is crucial and we value your insight into what will work best for you (and your family).

***For those who are first-time Ironman athletes training for events near the end of the season, it is even more crucial for you to maintain motivation and training consistency. Do your best to retain your resilience and focus thru this period of time so you continue to build fitness and will be prepared for your race. I know the uncertainty is difficult, but also remember that there is no rushing fitness gains, so focus on that long-term goal and continue putting in the miles.***
